Hluboká nad Vltavou, January 2, 2025 – WEDOS Internet, a.s., a leading provider of hosting services and cybersecurity solutions, announces the establishment and official listing of its CSIRT team (WEDOS-CSIRT (CZ)) in the international directory of Trusted Introducer.
This step marks a significant milestone in meeting the forthcoming legislative requirements based on the European NIS2 Directive and further strengthens the company’s position in the field of cybersecurity.
“Establishing an official CSIRT team is a logical step in our long-term strategy to provide highly secure services. With upcoming regulatory changes and the growing demand for cybersecurity from B2B partners and government institutions, this is our clear response to the current market needs,”
Petr Říha, COO of WEDOS Internet.
Listing in Trusted Introducer
As of January 2, 2025, the new WEDOS-CSIRT (CZ) team is officially listed in the European Trusted Introducer platform, which brings together relevant CSIRT and CERT teams worldwide. Achieving the “listed team” status confirms that WEDOS meets the essential criteria for handling and coordinating security incidents across its networks and services.
Collaboration with NIC.CZ and NÚKIB
To prepare for the official listing, WEDOS-CSIRT (CZ) collaborated with CSIRT.CZ security teams and representatives from the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB).
WEDOS representatives confirmed that all necessary systems and processes are already in place. Additionally, the company holds ISO 27001 certification, further reinforcing trust in its security standards.
CZ.NIC recommended that WEDOS-CSIRT (CZ) pursue “certified team” status in the future, as the company has already met many of the higher-level certification requirements.
A similar informational meeting was held with NÚKIB (GOVCERT.CZ), which expressed support for the project and promised cooperation.
Preparedness for NIS2 and Other Legislation
Beyond the immediate benefits of professionally managing potential security incidents, the establishment of a CSIRT team is critical for compliance with the upcoming European NIS2 Directive.
NIS2 introduces new obligations for providers of key infrastructure and internet-related services, including response time tests for incidents. It also mandates reporting all incidents to a dedicated NÚKIB portal within clearly defined deadlines.
WEDOS sees the creation of an official CSIRT team as a necessary step to meet stricter regulatory requirements while continuing to offer top-notch, secure services.
Customers, Partners, and Service development
One of the main drivers behind establishing WEDOS-CSIRT (CZ) is the increasing pressure from:
- International B2B partners, requiring guaranteed security levels.
- Government institutions in other countries, where WEDOS actively operates and provides cybersecurity solutions through its WEDOS Global infrastructure or where there is significant demand.
- Audits and certification programs, including certifications for domain registrars, which offer additional benefits and enhance credibility.
The WEDOS-CSIRT (CZ) team will handle incidents related to WEDOS infrastructure, IP address ranges, and domains for which WEDOS acts as the registrar. Beyond internal systems, the team will also assist customers facing cybersecurity threats.
